The Jives History

The Jives are - Jeff Chapman ; Guitars, Vocals, Foot Stomp, and Al E. Bye : Harmonicas, Jaw Harp, Percussion.

They started up in June 2003 out of the frustration of keeping their own bands together with ever changing musicians.

Jeff and Al played together in the early 80's in The Chicago Bearcats a blues/swing band that was signed to Carve Up records  a subsidiary of Red Lightning, and had a vinyl E.P. put out.

After the Bearcats split in 1985 Jeff then went on to form The Roosters (later to become Jeff Chapman's Roosters and Al to form The AM5 (originally The Al Morocco Five) both Rhythm and Blues bands, although very different from each other.

The Jives play a wealth of blues covers in their own style from the likes of Billy Boy Arnold, Little Walter, Chuck Berry, Mose Allison etc. with the emphasis on high energy Essex r & b.

They have played blues clubs and festivals all over England.
